Dance Field

Electronic dance music (EDM) is the future. Every year more and more EDM musicians cross over the dancefloor to radio stations all over the world. The fact that the Academy doesn’t allow mainstream pop acts here reflects that this genre is getting stronger recognition. This year’s race for the Dance/Electronic field is filled with veteran and newbies.

Best Dance Recording: Since most of this year’s dance hits were submitted to pop. It was really hard to figure out who might get here. There are three locks here here Avicii (“I Could Be the One”); Calvin Harris/Florence Welch (“Sweet Nothing”) and Zedd/Foxes (“Clarity”). On the other hand it appears that no Daft Punk track was submitted here making things even more unpredictable. So, completing the race are: Duck Sauce (“It’s You”); Krewella (“Alive”); Kaskade (“Atmosphere”); Tiesto (“Take Me”), Nervo (“Hold On”).

Best Dance/Electronica Album: This year’s most critically acclaimed/top-selling dance album is Daft Punk (Random Access Memories). Another veteran that shouldn’t have a problem to get in is Pet Shop Boys (Electric). Fillers are: Calvin Harris (18 Months); Zedd (Clarity); Disclosure (Settle); Krewella (Get Wet).
