WHAT IS EUROVISION?

The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual song competition organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1956. Eurovision is not be confused with reality shows like American Idol or Britain’s Got Talent. In here, active member countries of the EBU select a representative, either a solo artist or group -professional or amateur-, with an original song to compete. The winner is determined by a combination of jury and televoting from each of the participating countries.

Despite not being a popular show in this side of the world. The Eurovision Song Contest attracts approximately 1 billion viewers from Europe, the Middle East and Australia.

…AND WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO WITH?

It was part of the destiny: Back in 2003, during a midnight of boredom, I was just switching channels when I suddenly see t.A.T.u (the russian girl duo) performing on Television Española (TVE) -the Spanish public broadcaster and member of the EBU-. I saw what was left of the show without having a clue what was going on. I was really captivated but then I completely forgot about it. One year later, in 2004, I cam across TVE once again when they were showing a special event about the EU enlargement with Eastern European singers performing and advertising about Eurovision. In that moment, I begin to search about it, started following the contest and becoming the devoted fan I am today. And that was how my Eurovision journey begin.
